- Program Description:
As a supplement to its Theatre curriculum, the College of Arts and Humanities has designed a study abroad program for undergraduate and graduate students interested in Greek theatre at UCF.
This program will immerse students within the origins and influences of ancient Greek civilization, culture and theatre.
Participants will travel to Greece during the Athens festival where students will have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of performances in Classic Greek Drama, Tragedy, Comedy, as well as traditional dance and music. Students will also visit world class archaeology sites and museums offering exhibits in ancient Greek culture.
Students will be expected to trace the evolution of music theatre from early Greek origins and explain how these seeds grew into more complex art forms by finding examples while in Greece.
Students on this program should plan to arrive in Athens, Greece by noon on the starting day of the program in order to be in country to transfer to the hotel. Please note, check flight schedules carefully before booking. To arrive by noon on the starting day of this program, fights must depart the USA the day before the start of the program. Students are encouraged not to purchase their flights until after the application deadline and the applicants have been informed that the program has met its minimum numbers.

- Compare and contrast their experiences as a Greek audience member to that of one 2,000 years ago
- Understand how the ancient Greeks related their beliefs in the Gods to their lives, the arts and to sport
